Rhode Island Studies Resources
Many of Rhode Island’s Social Studies Standards call for the inclusion of Rhode Island history, government, geography, and current events. However, these local stories are often missing from curricular materials designed for a national audience.
To support educators, we’ve compiled a database of free resources created by Rhode Island’s history and heritage organizations. These resources include lesson plans, primary sources, videos, activities, articles, and books. All materials were submitted by local organizations and received a light review by teams of Rhode Island teachers. The database can be filtered by topic, grade level, or standard, and we plan to continue expanding it over time.
We’ve also included a companion document that lists standards which either explicitly reference Rhode Island or present opportunities to incorporate local content into instruction. This guide can help you identify where and how to integrate Rhode Island studies into your teaching. Please note that not all standards listed are currently supported by resources in the database.
