Rhode Island State Literacy Advisory Board Rhode Island’s 2015-2020 Strategic Plan for Public Education states: "Rhode Island aspires to support and grow current educators and leaders" to positively affect teaching and learning. The Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) understands that, in order to be successful in these endeavors, strong partnerships with schools and the community must be nurtured. To help facilitate these partnerships, RIDE established an advisory board for Literacy. The Literacy Advisory Board is comprised of educators, administrators (PreK-12), and postsecondary education, as well as leaders from Rhode Island educational organizations that have a deep understanding of literacy standards, instruction, and assessment. The Literacy Advisory Board members focus areas are to provide input on ways RIDE can more strongly support teachers in their efforts to implement good teaching based on Rhode Island content standards, review instructional resources and curriculum to determine their utility as foundations for good teaching and learning and serve as a vital channel of communication among RIDE, PreK-12 educators, institutions of postsecondary education, and Rhode Island professional organizations.
