Math Advisory Board

The RIDE Mathematics Advisory Board is seeking new members for the 2024-2025 school year. The board is composed of Rhode Island educators representing pre-kindergarten through grade twelve and higher education. Board members serve in an advisory capacity to RIDE, lending their expertise to improve the quality of mathematics education for every student in Rhode Island.

Among the upcoming projects that the advisory board would provide input on are:

  • potential changes to RIDE’s Algebra 2 model course
  • RIDE state math plan
  • math screening guidance
  • Comprehensive Assessment System guidance

Members of the advisory board contribute by:

  • providing input on ways RIDE can better support Math teachers.
  • reviewing instructional resources and/or curricula to determine their utility as pedagogical foundations for strong teaching and learning.
  • serving as a vital channel of communication between RIDE, PreK-12 educators, institutes of higher education, and state professional organizations.

Candidates should be able to meet the following criteria:

  • work intensively with a team of education professionals
  • make a commitment to attend advisory board meetings (approximately every other month from 4:30 - 6:30 pm at locations around the state and/or virtually)
  • make a commitment of up to 20 hours of “homework” per board year
  • offer current and direct experience to help inform the work of the advisory board

We encourage you to forward the application (linked below) to anyone within your district who you think will make a positive contribution to the advisory board. We are seeking applicants who can commit to the expectations listed above so that the board is vital, active, and effective.

Please complete the application by Wednesday, October 2nd. The form can be found at https://forms.gle/ogkVZKgdY7A88Wad7. All applications will be reviewed in order to ensure that the advisory board membership includes a blend of experts.
