Reimagining Teaching and Learning

For the next generation of learners to succeed and thrive, their learning experience must facilitate their development in knowledge, skills and dispositions.

Learning Dispositions

The Council of Chief State School Officers and Convergence define these dispositions as:

The theoretical or practical understanding of someone or something.

The capacities and strategies that enable learners to apply knowledge to novel situations, engage in higher order thinking, problem solve, collaborate, communicate effectively, and plan for the future.

The behaviors and ways of being that contribute to learners fulfilling their full potential.

Such as...

It is not about layering on top. It is about a deeper redesign of the instructional model so that it gets to the desired student-centered outcomes.

What is the Digital Shift and how do we make it happen?

If you're asking yourself "How do I engage students with technology?", you're asking the wrong question.

Blended Learning Resources

What is Blended Learning

Blended Learning is..

  • a formal education program in which a student learns at least in part through online delivery of content and instruction with some element of student control over time, place, path, and/or pace

  • at least in part at a supervised brick-and-mortar location away from home

  • the modalities along each student's learning path within a course or subject are connected to provide an integrated learning experience

The SAMR Model

The four stages of the SAMR model are as follows:

SAMR Model
  • Substitution: Tech acts as a direct tool substitute, with no functional change.
  • Augmentation: Tech acts as a direct tool substitute, with functional improvement.
  • Modification: Tech allows for significant task redesign.
  • Redefinition: Tech allows for the creation of new tasks, previously inconceivable.

The first two stages, Substitution and Augmentation, are grouped together as Enhancements to learning. The final two stages, Modification and Redefinition, are grouped together as Transformation of learning.
