Title 16 of the General Laws comprehensively addresses matters  relating to education in Rhode Island.

On behalf of the commissioner, the legal department interprets and renders advice on issues that arise under federal and state education laws and regulations. The Commissioner's hearing decisions provide the public with information on how education laws and regulations have been interpreted.
