Award-Winning Schools

The Rhode Island Department of Education is proud to honor excellent schools.

As part of the Rhode Island's statewide accountability system, RIDE assigns every public school a Star Rating. Schools that perform well across all measures are able to earn a 5 Star Rating, the highest designation. In addition, RIDE participates in the federal Blue Ribbon and Green Ribbon programs.

In October 2025, Rhode Island established the State of Rhode Island Blue Ribbon Schools Awards Program for schools that demonstrate either exceptionally high achievement or dramatic improvement in the school as a whole and among student groups. Prior to 2025, this long-established federal criteria was used to recognize schools through the national U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Schools program. Please see the list below for all schools recognized as a Blue Ribbon School.
