Award-Winning Schools The Rhode Island Department of Education is proud to honor excellent schools. As part of the Rhode Island's statewide accountability system, RIDE assigns every public school a Star Rating. Schools that perform well across all measures are able to earn a 5 Star Rating, the highest designation. In addition, RIDE participates in the federal Blue Ribbon and Green Ribbon programs.
