The Rhode Island Teacher of the Year Program recognizes the RI Teacher of the Year and all of the District Teachers of the Year.  These awards provide a tremendous experience for the honored teachers and help to encourage and model excellence among all educators, to promote the importance and value of the teaching profession, and to increase student achievement.

Empowering Educators

The RI Teacher of the Year serves as a voice for Rhode Island’s teachers, ensuring that their experiences are reflected in state-level discussions regarding education.

Developing Talent

The RI Teacher of the Year shares her or his classroom with a co-teacher throughout the school year. The co-teacher benefits from having a mentor who has been recognized as an exceptional educator.  This partnership is an investment in our future teachers.

Cultivating Leaders

The RI Teacher of the Year and District Teachers of the Year come together regularly for Educator Summits.  These gatherings create a meaningful opportunity for intensive professional development.
