Wellness Policies

Section 210 of The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 expands on previous USDA School Nutrition Program wellness policy requirements.

RIDE has developed the Wellness Collaborative.  Facilitated by the RI Wellness Collaborative Coordinator, participating districts and independent schools have been

  • Determining the readiness of their wellness policies to comply with the new USDA criteria related to Local School Wellness Policies
  • Accessing support services based on assessments of individual school and district wellness policies
  • Developing strategies and policies that address these gaps
  • Guiding districts and schools into adopting and implementing their compliance policies
