Rhode Island Department of Education Launches 2025 Statewide SurveyWorks Published on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green and the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) today announced the launch of the 2025 administration of SurveyWorks. The annual statewide education survey is now available for students, families, educators and administrators to complete online, and collects critical feedback and data on how to improve Rhode Island’s education system. Responses are completely anonymous and confidential and are being accepted until March 31. SurveyWorks covers a variety of important topics related to education, including students’ feelings of belonging, levels of respect between students and educators, school safety, and college and career readiness. The survey is available to families in Spanish, Portuguese, Khmer/Cambodian, Swahili, Creole/Haitian, Pashto, Arabic and Quiche thanks to a partnership with the Providence Public School District. “SurveyWorks participation from all key stakeholders informs us on how we can improve educational opportunities for Rhode Island children statewide,” said Governor Dan McKee. “While we are continuing our efforts to improve academic achievement through year-round learning, it’s critical that we hear from students, educators and families on all facets of our education system. I encourage all school community members to complete this year’s SurveyWorks.” “Participating in our annual SurveyWorks is incredibly important to help us improve the school experience,” said Education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green. “When we look at how we can pave the way to success for students, families and educators, we must consider their critical insight to implement the best supports possible for students. I encourage all students, educators, and families to participate and make their voices heard.” “The annual administration of SurveyWorks by RIDE highlights our commitment to hearing directly from students, families, educators and administrators,” said Chair of the Council on Elementary and Secondary Education Patti DiCenso. “Not only is the survey important for the state, but also for each individual school and district so they can continue on a path of growth and improvement. I emphasize the importance of SurveyWorks and encourage all to complete it so we can continue to support Rhode Island students.” SurveyWorks data is incorporated into the state’s Report Card platform that families can use to better understand the strengths and challenges of their schools. The results can also help to inform programmatic decisions that best maintain strong student, family and educator engagement. The 2025 administration of SurveyWorks marks the third year in a row that educators in local education agencies (LEAs) across the state have access to the free tool Playbook, which allows them to create educator-reviewed lesson plans based on their school’s results and based on multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) tiers. In 2024, the survey had over 130,000 responses from across the state, which was the highest received in a year. Last year’s survey also had the highest response rates ever from two key audiences: educators and families. Families are encouraged to contact their school(s) with any questions or for further information, or RIDE at SurveyWorks@ride.ri.gov. Schools are also encouraged to use the hashtag #SurveyWorks to join in on the conversation. ###
