Call for Submissions: RIDE Announces Annual STEAM Logo Design Contest as Part of Math Matters RI
Published on Tuesday, March 04, 2025
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Governor Dan McKee, Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green, and the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) today announced that submissions are open for the annual STEAM Logo Design Contest. The contest, which is in line with the Math Matters RI campaign led by Governor McKee and Commissioner Infante-Green, allows high school students from across the state to showcase their creativity by designing a logo and slogan to celebrate STEAM Month 2025. Rhode Island STEAM Month, which is celebrated each November, highlights the importance of education in science, technology, engineering, art+design, and mathematics (STEAM) and spotlights opportunities in these fields offered by Rhode Island schools.
“We’re proud to once again offer students the opportunity to use their creativity and talent to help our state celebrate Rhode Island STEAM Month,” said Governor Dan McKee. “RIDE’s STEAM Logo Design Contest underscores how science, technology, engineering, art and design, and perhaps most critically, mathematics, intertwine with each other. This contest is a great example of how we are working as a state to emphasize the importance of math instruction. Math Matters, Rhode Island!”
“Allowing students to explore their creativity and find innovative ways of thinking is crucial to a well-rounded education,” said Education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green. “Each year, the STEAM Logo Design Contest opens up opportunities for students from across Rhode Island to engage and apply their classroom learning, while also promoting STEAM education. We invite all high school students to submit a logo design for consideration.”
The selected slogan and design will be used on all promotional items and public announcements by RIDE related to STEAM education during the month of November. Logos should include a tagline and student-generated artwork. Last year, North Providence High School student Elizabeth Ricci won the contest.
The selection criteria for the STEAM Logo Design Contest is as follows:
