Letters of Intent Due by October 8

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) has released the annual Request for Proposals (RFP) for organizations seeking AmeriCorps grant funding. Funding will be awarded on a competitive basis to community organizations, schools, and local governments that establish or expand an AmeriCorps program. These programs engage AmeriCorps members in long-term, ongoing volunteer commitments to address community needs.

Letters of intent are due by October 8 and final applications due on November 15. There will an informational webinar for applicants on October 1.

“AmeriCorps programs have a strong tradition of enhancing our schools and communities, filling critical needs in areas like affordable housing, behavioral health services, and education for all students. These programs also provide on-the-job training and career pathway options for the AmeriCorps members volunteering statewide,” said Angélica Infante-Green, Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education. "We look forward to receiving this year's proposals for how we can leverage AmeriCorps funds to support a stronger Rhode Island."

The RFP process is managed by ServeRI at RIDE, the Rhode Island Commission for National and Community Service. ServeRI welcomes all applicants, but has established priorities for this competition in education, housing, and behavioral health.
