This is the source for Child Nutrition Programs (CNP) sponsored trainings, workshops, and conferences. RIDE develops and conducts program and nutrition training designed to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to understand and comply with USDA requirements.

Boosting Breakfast in Older Youth

What to Expect: School breakfast is associated with positive social, emotional, and academic outcomes; however, far too many secondary students (grades 6-12) skip this essential morning meal. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 75 percent of teens do not eat breakfast daily. Skipping breakfast can contribute to poor school performance and compound negative health outcomes. 

Join the Food Research & Action Center (FRAC) as they explore successful strategies to engage older students and increase school breakfast participation in middle and high schools.

What to Expect: The Afterschool Nutrition Programs are important resources for helping to fill the nutrition gap that may exists for millions of children when the school day ends. As schools and community partners start to plan for back to school, afterschool suppers and snacks should be part of the conversation. Join the Food Research & Action Center (FRAC) for a refresher on the available program options, tips for getting started, partnership ideas, and strategies for increasing participation at existing afterschool meal sites.

What to Expect: It pays to serve afterschool suppers and snacks! Through the Afterschool Nutrition Programs, schools can receive reimbursement for every supper and snack served at eligible sites. This funding can add up! This webinar, hosted by the Food Research and Action Center (FRAC) will showcase how school districts are drawing down funding to create financially viable afterschool nutrition programs, as well as tips and tricks for covering extra staff hours, program structure, and staffing ideas.
