This is the source for Child Nutrition Programs (CNP) sponsored trainings, workshops, and conferences. RIDE develops and conducts program and nutrition training designed to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to understand and comply with USDA requirements.

Healthy Meal Incentives Recognition Awards - Informational Webinar

What to Expect: During the May 8th Recognition Awards Informational Webinar, attendees will first hear opening remarks provided by Cindy Long, Administrator of the USDA Food and Nutrition Service. Afterwards they will learn about the Innovation in the Cultural Diversity of School Meals Award. Additionally,  the National Farm to School Network (NFSN), a member of the HMI Partner Alliance , will share how they can support SFAs in increasing the cultural diversity in their school meals through local procurement, menu planning, and engaging the community. 

Unite Us Online Meal Benefit Application

What to Expect: Last year, The RI Department of Education, Child Nutrition Programs, partnered with Unite Us to implement an electronic platform for the collection of school meal benefit applications. LEA's are able to receive meal benefit applications directly from parents/caregivers through an online form (see it here). There is no cost to the LEA for using this electronic form. The first year was a success and we would like to build on that momentum.  

Unite Us will be hosting an engagement session with special guest users from Scituate School Department and Beacon Charter Schools, two of the highest utilizers of the Unite Us system. They will share their experiences using the platform.

What to Expect: Still have questions about the proposed rule on the serious deficiency process in the CACFP and SFSP? Join the National CACFP Association Policy team as they walk through the proposed rule and help stakeholders prepare to make comments.

Students Take Charge! Culinary & Wellness Policy Training

What to Expect: The training provides School Nutrition Professionals with culinary techniques and ingredients for flavor and cultural relevance in school breakfast and lunch meal programs. JWU will be leading attendees through this session. Attendees are able to select the time that fits their schedule best with the same learning outcomes in the morning or afternoon session.

Business Managers and Wellness Committee Leaders will join us in the morning through lunch. Two concurrent sessions will include state contracts, strategies to involve students in school meals, and best practices to deepen the Wellness Committee's involvement in empowering students.

This training is open for school district chefs, school nutrition operation managers, business managers, and wellness committee leaders. As part of this training JWU will provide a chef demonstration of a student created recipe that you can add to your school meal programs.
