Office of Statewide Efficiencies
The
Office of Statewide Efficiencies assists
districts and charter schools with significant budget
deficits and develops new, more streamlined procurement
practices. Over the past four years, the office has worked
on creating a Uniform Chart of Accounts (UCOA), which will
provide transparency, uniformity, accountability, and
comparability regarding the finances of each district,
charter, and state school. The Office of Statewide
Efficiencies oversees the School Construction Program, UCOA,
Transportation, E-Rate and Nutrition.
Office of Finance
Education in Rhode Island is
supported by state, local, and federal funds. The Department of
Education is responsible for distributing the state and local funds
to school districts according to the appropriate laws and
regulations. Federal and state funding is provided in a variety of
categories, and the main mission of the Office of Finance is to
coordinate and enhance the use of these funds to help students and
teachers meet the high standards set by the Board of Regents for
Elementary and Secondary Education.
