Notice on Web Accessibility

The Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (RIDE) is committed to ensuring our site’s pages and links to information are accessible.

We are in the process of updating the ride.ri.gov site to “Level AA” conformance with the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.

Known Compliance Issues

As we update our website, we are in the process of fixing several web accessibility compliance issues that were identified in a recent accessibility audit. Two main issues are as follows:

  • PDF Documents:
We recognize that many of the Portable Document Format (PDF) documents linked on our website are not fully accessible. We are in the process of remediating those files. If you experience problems accessing a document and need assistance, please contact us.
  • “Tree List” Content Modules:
There is a content module used on this website which expands and collapses information that is organized into a list. This module is being updated so that it can be keyboard accessible. If you experience issues accessing or navigating one of these “tree lists”, please contact us.

For a list of identified issues, files needing remediation, or an update on progress, please contact us.

RIDE will make every effort to ensure you get the information you need in a timely manner and to comply with all federal civil rights laws. For information on these laws, please view the regulations enforced by the Office of Civil Rights at the United States Department of Education.
