Ensuring Educator Excellence through recruitment of qualified educators begins with the process of identifying and following a pathway to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to become an effective beginning educator- teacher assistant, teacher, support professional, or administrator.  The RI Department of Education has established high standards for the quality of educator preparation and regularly reviews and approves programs that lead to certification.  All prospective educators must meet rigorous certification requirements, including subject matter, professional preparation, field experience and testing requirements.  RIDE also works with LEAs to establish meaningful staffing initiatives.
